Petrichor

I shaped my ways

With dry umber

Pinching what I could

Painted my canvas

blasé with bland days

Like a gray slumber

I stood

Where I forever was

Listening to the thunder

Wondering if it would

That night, rain on us

And set the sky ablaze

We danced with the trees

And the heavens did pour

Till we were soaked

High, tip toeing on stars

But the night did cease

Leaving a petrichor

Of memories evoked

Of cures and of scars

Till you closed the door

And I choked

Slowly, as if ajar

Along with the breeze

We shone and swayed

Memories swept clean

The world was new

And the rain

sprouted a fresh blade

A new human being

I fell and I grew

The next day again

Into the lush green

You would leave i knew

But not in vain

As the petrichor stayed

Land of coco and betel nuts

She cupped her hands

And the sun popped

Into her palms

Leaving a blue calm

Like time stopped

Waiting for the night

To grease

The canvas dark

And meet the trees

Around the arc

Kissing the land

Of coco and betel nuts

Her mellow face

Tinted with sunglow

And eyes shut

Dreaming she went

Into the play-tent

Of the night sky

And played again

Make believe games

Of knights and dames

Shushing herself

Quiet in the land

Of coco and betel nuts

Light streaking

Into her secret world

Through holes in the sky

Or stars as some called

The spirits of those gone

Lighting up the night

And keeping oversight

Of the whispering leaves

And the make believe

Stories they said

To fascinate the people

Of coco and betel nuts

Stories of valour

And stories of love

How they fought the storms above

And the millionth sun

They saw sink

One would think

The world would scare ‘em

But if you could hear ‘em

They were just lost souls

Swaying with the music

That filled the land

Of coco and betel nuts

And the rhythm of their song

Repeating along

Every night and every day

Another moon rose

Another sun died

To remind those

Who swayed

And those who stayed

Both in the same verse

We have the same curse

In the universe

Of coco and betel nuts

The Girl on the Swing

Her thoughts swung

from page to page,

She stopped to peek

At every age,

At episodes

Of her life

And the lines she chose

To describe

How every time

she took the stance

Less taken

Branch out in the wide open

Universe,

Where she was

Just a shadow

Without a clue

How the world spun

Without her move

Not a strand

Of her flowing hair

Not the feet

she left mid air

Not the tree

Of the choices

Just free

Of the voices

In her head

What she read was

About the cosmos

That flared red

And yellow

Around her

And bound her

To the mellow tune

And the smell of june

rain

That bittersweet pain

The forgotten stars

And scars

Of the time she sang along

To stop her from bringing on

Tears to her eyes

She decides

To stop singing

So she held her sound

But the world around

Kept swinging

Between

Weak and strong,

Right and Wrong,

The book held her still

For better or worse

But The universe

Kept swinging along
